10:11 am on 26 September 2013

The former Kumuls rugby league captain Mark Mom has been appointed to lead the NRL's School program across Papua New Guinea.

The initiative will introduce rugby league development programmes into 80 schools across the country.

Mom says they're hoping to reach 50,000 students and train 500 teachers in three years.

The program commenced this week at Waigani Public School and works individually with students both on and off the field with literacy modules strongly emphasised across the five session program.
