Six charged in PNG over Black Cat Track attack

Six suspects arrested in relation to the Black Cat Track attack in Papua new Guinea's Morobe province this month appeared in the Lae District Court for mention last Friday.

Three local porters were killed in the attack, and several trekkers, including tourists from Australia and New Zealand, sustained injuries.

The six men who appeared, including five from Bitoi and one from Salamaua, have been charged with three counts of willful murder, numerous counts of attempted murder, grievous body harm and armed robbery.

The Post Courier reports that the youngest of the suspects is a 19-year-old and the oldest is about 27 years of age.
