Fiji's Labour Party is calling for the National Register of Voters to be made public.
The party's secretary general Mahendra Chaudhry says the Register, by law, should be published every year so voters verify the information in it.
He says currently the Register is hidden from public view and claims by the Attorney General rejecting this are wrong.
Mr Chaudhry also says every six months the government is obliged to publish the names of all those people who have been removed from the Register but this has not been happening.
He says in keeping with previous best practice and the need for transparency and credibility, the Register should be available to the public at places such as post offices, district offices or municipal and provincial council offices.
