The prominent Fiji NGO, the Citizens' Constitutional Forum and its CEO are appealing against their sentence for contempt of court.
In August the Reverend Akuila Yabaki received a three month suspended jail sentence following the group's reprinting of an article raising concern about the impartiality of Fiji's judiciary.
He and his organisation were also fined ten and a half thousand US dollars.
The parties' lawyer, John Apted, says the appeal is likely to be heard next year.
The article summarised an investigation by Britain's Law Society Charity on the independence of the judiciary in Fiji.
Fiji's Attorney General described the report as scurrilous.
Fiji's judiciary was reconstituted in 2009 after the country's judges were sacked, following a Court of Appeal ruling the country's military regime was illegal.
