PNG announces church-state partnership programme

The Papua New Guinea Government has announced details of a new programme to help churches improve their education and health services.

The programme will include 17 point 6 million US dollars in annual project funding for the churches.

The minister for National Planning and Monitoring Charles Abel says churches are a major provider of basic social services in PNG and the government recognises their role in improving the lives of Papua New Guineans.
