The International Rugby Board has announced changes to the promotion/relegation structure for the World Sevens Series.

Promotion to core team status for the 2014/15 campaign will be decided at the Hong Kong Sevens in March, where 12 regional qualifiers will battle for the one promotion place on offer.

The bottom-ranked core team after the ninth round of the World Series in London in May will then be relegated.

Previously the top three teams from the Hong Kong qualifier, two regional qualifiers and the bottom three core teams after the Edinburgh leg contested an eight team promotion-relegation tournament in London.
