The Chief Justice of Kiribati has sworn in three new ministers, including a woman to lead the newly set up Ministry of Women, Youth and Social Affairs.

Tangariki Reete has become the third women minister in the government led by Anote Tong.

Two of the new ministers, Rimeta Beniamina and Waysang Kum Kee, replace two ministers who resigned last week.

The two were the communications, transport and tourism minister, Taberannang Timeon, and the public works and energy minister, Kirabuke Teiaua, who quit amid a dispute over allegedly excessive allowance payments.
