One of the four people hit during a shooting spree in New Caledonia on Tuesday has died of his injuries.
The public prosecutor says Charles Gada Uedre, who was 19, died in hospital from a bullet in his head and one in his thigh.
Another shooting victim is still in hospital.
The gunman, Michel Apikaoua, shot the four after an argument at the end of a night of drinking.
The public prosecutor says he has been transferred to prison amid a number of charges although he reportedly disputes that he planned to kill the victims.
The incident has revived the debate about excessive drinking in the territory and the recent relaxation of New Caledonia's firearm laws.
