Tonga rugby league captain Brent Kite admits their tactics at the World Cup won't be a surprise to many.

The Mate Ma'a begin their tournament on Wednesday morning against Scotland in Workington, not far from the Scottish border.

Brent Kite admits they don't know a lot about their opponent but says the Tongan approach to the game won't surprise anyone.

"Oh mate I don't think it's any secret the power game of the Tongan people in general and definitely our team is full of powerful guys and we'd like to think we can do well there and look at dominating through the middle and hopefully making some room for the talented guys. It won't be easy - there's some teams out there in our pool who have some recent form on the board and we just have to try and do well each time we go out."
