Samoan man caught trying to smuggle drugs into American Samoa

A man from Samoa who allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana strapped to his body into American Samoa is in custody on a 30,000 US dollar bail.

Faletoi Fetuaso Sevi arrived in Pago Pago last week on board the passenger ferry MV Lady Naomi from Apia.

He is charged with felony unlawful possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He entered a not guilty plea yesterday in the District Court, and is due to appear again today for a preliminary examination hearing.

Court documents states that durning a Customs search, it was found that marijuana bundles were taped to the defendant's left and right knees, hip, and chest.

Other marijuana leaves were found in his pants pockets.
