Solomons Govt's new Commerce offices will benefit provincial areas

The Solomon Islands government says it will build two additional Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration offices in Tulagi and Taro next year.

The director of the Ministry's Business Cooperation Division, Ezekiel Heroau says this development is vital to make it easier for people who want to venture into business to process their applications in the provinces rather than travelling to Honiara.

Mr Heroau added that setting up provincial offices will reduce increasing work load at the main Honiara office.

He says the Ministry has been experiencing an overload of work because most of its clients are people from provinces.

Currently, the Ministry of Commerce has offices in Western, Malaita and Temotu Provinces which are undergoing major renovation.

Provincial offices are soon expected to open in Rennell and Bellona Province after work started several months ago.
