Arrests expected soon after latest Fiji military beating allegations

A man allegedly beaten by Fiji military personnel expects the perpetrators will be arrested and charged soon.

Keni Finau says he lodged a complaint against a military officer in 2010 over a personal matter and says earlier this month he was visited by a group of officers who asked him to accompany them to the military camp to discuss the issue.

Instead he says the men took him to Colo-i-Suva forest park where he was assaulted.

Mr Finau says he lodged a complaint with the police, who have taken the men in for questioning, and have indicated that charges will be laid soon against the main suspect.
