Vanuatu's director for local authorities, Cherol Ala, has called on the Shefa Provincial Council to devise new ways of raising revenue to support its budget for next year.
Miss Ala says the council cannot continue to depend solely on the central government's annual allocation of 300 thousand US dollars.
She says councillors have voted themselves increased sitting allowances but they also need to prove they can contribute towards earning more revenue for the council.
