Fiji's main carrier Fiji Airways is to receive a new Airbus A330.

The Fiji Times reports the new aircraft is arriving on Thursday.

The arrival of the airbus marks the final delivery of an ambitious aircraft upgrade programme worth 650 million US dollars, designed to increase the airlines ability to compete against international airlines and budget carriers such as Jet Star and Virgin Pacific.

The Attorney General and Minister for Civil Aviation Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, accompanied by the Fiji Airways Programme Director Mike Moore and a group of Fiji Airways engineers, travelled to Toulouse in France over the weekend to attend the hand over of the aircraft.
