The Solomon Islands Police says it will do its best to ensure the 2014 national elections will be corruption-free.

The Acting Commissioner of Police, Juanita Matanga, says police have already started preparing, with eight being specially trained as members of the Rapid Response Team.

Ms Matanga says officers will be deployed to all 50 constituencies but special emphasis will be placed on the 47 rural electorates.

She says there will be no toleration for vote rigging and vote buying.

Ms Matanga says the police are already deployed in the provincial headquarters, but the rest will be deployed next year.
