Samoa's opposition leader has again called on the prime minister to explain to the public why he has suspended an associate minister, Lafaitele Patrick Leiatauale, for a year.

Palusalue Faapo II says the decision to sideline the Associate Minister of Police and Prisons was announced in a caucus meeting of the ruling HRPP.

He says the constituency of the suspended member has been left in the dark.

Palusalue says the prime minister is ignoring his public official duties but spends most of his time fixing the disunity within the party .
