1:11 pm on 12 November 2013

A strong second half performance laid the platform for Samoa's 22-6 victory over France at the Rugby League World Cup, setting up a quarter final clash against Pacific rivals Fiji.

The Toa hit the front early in Perpignan with a Daniel Vidot try in the fourth minute, converted by Anthony Milford.

In a ferocious first half three Samoan players were placed on report and prop Mose Masoe was sent to the sin bin, with the teams locked at 6-all at the break.

Sauaso Sue became the fourth Toa player to be put on report for a foot trip in the second spell but on the scoreboard Samoa took control of the match, with Milford, Pita Godinet and Junior Moors all scoring to complete the win.

Samoa will now take on Fiji on Monday in the last eight with France to face England a day earlier.

The other quarter final matchups have New Zealand against Scotland and Australia versus the USA.
