The Fiji Electricity Authority and Fiji Sugar Corporation are working on overcoming teething problems to maintain their power purchase agreement.

The agreement to supply electricity from the Labasa mill to the Electricity Authority grid is meant to continue all year round, and not only during crushing season.

According to the Fiji Times, the Authority's CEO Hasmukh Patel, says the two organisations are currently sorting out issues and hope to get the agreement back on track by April or May.

Mr Patel says the Electricity Authority has been working in partnership with the Sugar Corporation for a number of years in terms of power supply and they want to maintain this relationship.
