The Forum Fisheries Agency is calling on Tonga to sign the Niue Treaty Subsidiary Agreement to help protect the region's fisheries.
Radio Tonga says representatives from Tonga's fisheries ministry, the armed forces have met with other officials from the FFA to discuss the agreement.
The agency's Dr Filimoni Manoni says they want to promote cooperation among the members and do better job in protecting the fisheries.
