The Japanese Government has donated solar lamps to residents on 13 islands in the Vava'u group.
Radio Tonga reports that the solar lamps were presented at the governor's office in Neiafu last week and accepted by Tonga's acting prime minister, Samiu Vaipulu.
522 homes will benefit from the donation.
