Solomon Islands to start enforcing new Tobacco Control laws

Solomon Islands has started enforcing its new Tobacco Control Act.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced it has started with putting no smoking stickers on buses, taxis and government vehicles.

The Ministry of Health says smokers found smoking in public vehicles could be fined up to 2,750 US dollars.

The Ministry says as it will first carry out awareness campaigns in public vehicles, smokers could escape the hefty fine, but after that offenders will be fined.
