The Cook Islands made a winning start to their three test netball series with Singapore, running out 58-50 winners in Rarotonga.
The home side were in front at each interval and at one stage led by 19 goals before the visitors closed the gap in the final quarter.
Game two is on Tuesday evening local time with the series wrapping up on Wednesday.
