The Tonga government says it would like to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines but it does not have the money.

Radio Tonga reports the acting prime minister, Samiu Vaipulu, saying the government is willing to assist the victims but there is not enough money left in its Emergency Relief Fund.

This comes after the Filipino community in Tonga, which numbers about 80, appealed for monetary assistance for their countrymen following the devastating typhoon.
