Tahiti's Michel Bourez won the Reef Hawaiian Pro to establish an early lead in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
The 27-year-old survived a late charge by Haleiwa local Fred Patacchia in the final and was well clear of Frenchman Jeremy Flores and Dion Atkinson of Australia.
Bourez's second Hawaiian Pro victory earns his a winners purse of US$40,000.
The Triple Crown Series now moves north to Sunset Beach for the Vans World Cup of Surfing, which is expected to begin this week.
