Sport: Tonga forward Fa'aoso to appear in court

1:14 pm on 26 November 2013

Tonga rugby league international Richie Fa'aoso will appear in court on Tuesday on drink driving charges following an alleged domestic violence incident at the weekend.

The National Rugby League Integrity Unit is investigating the incident and is assisting with counselling support for both him and his family.

The 29 year old Manly forward was arrested following a police pursuit.

In a statement, the Fa'aoso family say the incident is not a domestic violence matter.

The NRL's Chief Operating Officer Jim Doyle says the governing body will allow the police matters to take their course but will ensure that there is welfare support for the player and his family.
