The French president has praised Wallis and Futuna as a territory which he says allows France to shine in the beautiful Pacific environment.
Francois Hollande made the comment at a reception of elected members and customary chiefs in Paris.
He says he wanted to mark his attachment to the territory, which has a numbe of patriots serving with the French army in most difficult operations.
He has also assured the territory of France's continued support.
