Sport: Samoa's Reni Maitua charged with assault

12:32 pm on 27 November 2013

Bulldogs backrower Reni Maitua and Newcastle recruit Russell Packer are the latest NRL players in trouble for their off-field behaviour.

New Zealand prop Packer has been interviewed by police over an alleged assault in Sydney on Friday night.

The news came on the same day Canterbury and Samoa back-rower Reni Maitua was charged with assaulting a taxi driver in Sydney's south-east.

Meanwhile Manly and Tonga prop Richie Fa'aoso pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday to drink driving, but not guilty on two other charges of not stopping as requested by police and property damage, relating to an alleged domestic incident involving his wife at the weekend.

The NRL's Integrity Unit is investigating each of the incidents.
