It's believed advanced technology, currently being designed to deliver affordable high speed internet to the Pacific by the end of 2016, could translate into additional wealth for those countries.
A Singapore-based company, Kacific Broadband Satellites, has announced plans to launch a satellite to provide internet connectivity over the Pacific Islands.
The CEO Christian Patouraux says the high powered signal will overcome traditional challenges posed by widely disseminated populations.
Mr Patouraux says there is a demand that is currently being unmet, where some remote Pacific nations don't even have five percent penetration.
"What the World Bank believes is that as soon as you reach about 10 percent of the population using the internet then you have a direct impact on the economy, and that is our goal and I think it's totally achievable and it's being achieved in some Middle Eastern countries for instance and having a direct impact on the GDP."
Christian Patouraux says there has been a positive response from government's in the Pacific, where there is a drive to connect agencies online.
