Well known store in American Samoa closes its doors

One of American Samoa's well known auto parts stores, NAPA, has closed its retail outlet in Tafuna.

The president and chairman of the board of Spear Incorporated, which operates the NAPA store says the closure is to allow the company to focus on its wholesale business.

Eight employees are now without jobs.

Victor Stanley says focusing on their wholesale business makes more sense for the company.

NAPA's corporate offices in Hawaii have reached an agreement with an unnamed well established local company to reopen a NAPA operation in the territory in the near future.

Mr Stanley says he is hopeful the new operators will be able to hire some his company's employees who have lost their jobs.
