New equipment to benefit Fiji's fisheries sector

Fiji's fisheries industry has received tens of thousands of dollars worth of aid equipment from South Korea.

The Minister for Primary Industries says the 80 thousand US dollar grant will improve service delivery to fishing communities in Fiji.

Inia Seruiratu says the donation comes on top of capacity building training provided at Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and a donation last year of a vehicle Fiji's department of fisheries.

Mr Seruiratu says South Korea has engaged with the Pacific Island countries through various forums to expand networks in the fisheries sector, especially to emphasise the importance it places on protecting marine biodiversity.
