PNG province puts the clamp on alcohol sales over Xmas

3:18 pm on 24 December 2013

The administrator in Papua New Guinea's Central Province, Gei Guna Raga, has imposed a ban on the sale of alcohol over the holiday period.

He says any liquor outlets found selling liquor during this period would be dealt with under the provisions of Liquor Control Act.

The Post Courier reports Mr Raga saying the restriction will not apply to restaurants, motels and hotels where lodgers and their guests can have alcohol with their meals.
