French Polynesia's president, Gaston Flosse, has returned from China, saying his visit was a success.
Mr Flosse, who had left just before Christmas, says China is ready to invest in his administration's Mahana Beach project on Tahiti.
He says there are several Chinese investors and there may also be one from Qatar.
The territory's tourism industry suffered a massive downturn in the last decade, adding to unprecedented problems with unemployment.
