New Caledonia eyes tropical depression

The New Caledonian government has asked the public to be on the look-out as tropical depression coulld bring heavy rain.

The president says the depression is to the north and is yet to pose a threat to New Caledonia.

He says people in pleasure boats should exercise extra care.

In December 2012, New Caledonia was hit by destructive rain fall when the aftermath of Cyclone Freda crossed the territory's north after it had hit Solomon Islands.
