The Fiji government says a visiting delegation from China is happy with the country's progress towards elections and that China is keen to help in any way it can.

The Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Yu Hongjun, is leading a friendship delegation on a three-day visit to Fiji.

Mr Yu is reported by the Ministry of Information as having commended Fiji's Look North Policy and the move to make China the focus of that policy.

Fiji's foreign minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, has welcomed the offer of assistance and appraised the Vice Minister on the role Fiji was playing in the international and regional arena.
