Vanuatu PM apologises to sacked reserve bank governor

11:14 am on 18 February 2014

Vanuatu's prime minister Moana Carcasses has presented a custom mat to the country's former governor of the Reserve Bank, Odo Tevi, after replacing him with another government official, Semion Athy.

Our correspondent reports that the mat was an apology to avoid any allegation of wrongful dismissal.

Earlier this month Mr Tevi was named as the new Vanuatu ambassador to the United Nations in New York.
