Vodafone Fiji poised to invest nationwide

Vodafone Fiji will embark on a 12.9 million US dollar investment programme.

Fiji Times online says this was revealed by Agriculture Minister, Lieutenant Colonel Inia Seruiratu, during a recent tour of the North.

Lieutenant Colonel Seruiratu said the investment would include the setting up of transmitting stations nationwide with 18 stations in the North.

He added the results of the plan may not be immediate, but it is beginning to take form with the extension of power grids, road refurbishment and the improvement of water supplies to local areas in the region.

He said the government's Look North Policy has tax incentives but it needs infrastructure and utilities such as communication.

Lieutenant Colonel Seruiratu says the plans by Vodafone Fiji would open up links for the people of the North with the outside world, which means accessibility to business markets.
