The Asian Development Bank is to give Tonga a grant of 23 million US dollars to fund its Climate Resilience Sector Project.

The project will ensure that climate resilience is part of the national planning process.

It will support an innovative sustainable financing mechanism providing small grants to help communities implement climate change adaptation and disaster risk resilience projects.

The ADB says this is a first for the Pacific in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
