A Vanuatu student living in Fiji has died from dengue fever.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reports the University of the South Pacific student, Markson Tetaun, of North Malekula, died from internal bleeding caused by dengue hemorrhagic fever.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

The newspaper reports Mr Tetaun is the third person to die of dengue in Fiji this year, but it is not clear whether he contracted the disease there or in Vanuatu, which is also experiencing dengue at present.
