Fiji lawyers fill legal roles in Nauru

7:26 am on 4 March 2014

Nauru has employed two lawyers from Fiji to plug holes in its judiciary after the government deported the resident magistrate.

The newly sworn in resident magistrate is Ropate Cabealawa, who has been a resident magistrate in Fiji for the past 5 years.

He has also worked in Fiji's Solicitor General's office and on the Fiji Law Reform Commission.

The new Nauru court registrar is former prominent Fiji lawyer, Graham Leung.

Mr Leung is a former president of the Fiji Law Society.
