CEO of PNG's Angau Hospital sidelined

Papua New Guinea's Government has has revoked the appointment of the outspoken acting chief executive officer of Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae.

Dr Polapoi Chalau last week publicly announced that Angau Hospital will continue to charge fees for basic health care services, which is directly against the government's free basic health care policy.

The National Executive Council has subsequently revoked his appointment.

The Prime Minister Peter O'Neill says Dr Jim Abrahams is now the acting chief executive officer at Angau General.
