Young kids selling food after hours worries American Samoa's Health Dept

8:31 am on 6 March 2014

The American Samoa Department of Health has raised concerns children as young as 10 are selling food at the road side after hours.

The chief compliance officer at the Department of Health, Papalii Marion Fitisemanu, says typically these children are selling fish products in the evenings or at night, when health inspectors have gone home.

Papalii says it appears some churches are behind these roadside sales and they have contacted them for help in curbing these activities.

The department has just hired four new health inspectors increasing its numbers to 10.
