Sport: Pampas XV too strong for ill-disciplined Samoa A

10:23 am on 13 March 2014

The Argentina Pampas XV maintained their perfect start to the Pacific Rugby Cup with a 38-24 victory over Samoa A in Canberra on Tuesday.

Samoa opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a try to Andrew Williams but the South Americans levelled the scores five minutes later and crossed twice more to lead 19-11 at halftime.

A further three second half tries ensured a convincing scoreline to give the Pampas their third win from as many matches, continuing the team's progress towards joining the full Super Rugby competition in 2016.

Discipline proved costly for the Pacific team with skipper Maselino Paulino yellow carded in the seventh minute and Tila Mealoi sent off five minutes from full-time.

Samoa A's next match is against the ACT XV on Saturday.
