A gale warning is still in force in the Cook Islands, affecting Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Manuae, Takutea, Atiu, Mitiaro, Mauke and Mangaia.
Damaging gale-force winds are expected up to 40 knots and momentary gusts up to 55 knots in those areas.
A strong wind warning remains in force for the rest of the the southern Cook Islands.
