Sport: Fiji striker Roy Krishna extends stay with Wellington Phoenix

The Fiji football international Roy Krishna's efforts at Wellington Phoenix have been rewarded with a two year contract.

The 26 year old striker has been at the club since January as an injury replacement for Paul Ifill.

He was named in the A-League team of the week after scoring his first Phoenix goal against the Melbourne Heart.

And coach Ernie Merrick says he's continued to improve after a nervous start.

"In the last two games I think he's been outstanding so I think he's a very good player for us to sign. He's got all those qualities that are hard to find: speed, tremendous dribbling ability, a nose for goals, a shot with left foot and right foot -I'm very impressed. I think Roy Krishna is becoming a major player in our team and can get better."
