Apology to Vanuatu speaker for botched travel

Vanuatu's Department of Foreign Affairs has apologised to the speaker of parliament, Philip Boedoro, for not turning up at the airport to facilitate his travel to Europe.

Mr. Boedoro was to have travelled to France to address the 27th ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

He was to assure the meeting of Vanuatu's commitment to co-hosting a similarly joint ACP-EU meeting in Port Vila at the end of this year.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it will from now on strive to do its best to make sure it carries out its duties to the highest expectation of the Speaker and the government of the day

An MP Bruno Lengkon, who was to accompany the speaker, stepped in to deliver his address.
