Papua New Guinea's deputy police commissioner is calling for people to come forward if they have any information about a widely circulated video showing a man being mauled by three police dogs in Port Moresby .
Simon Kauba says an investigation has been launched, to be headed by the National Capital District's regional commander, but he says they only have media reports to work from so far.
Mr Kauba says police know some details about the man, but they need an official complaint before they can take their investigation any further.
"He was a drug dealer who was responsible for selling drugs to the little school children and so we picked up the story that he was the same man that picked up the story that he was the same man that was being reported and then after we were able to set up an inquiry commencing as of today, and so if there are relatives or friends who are concerned about this matter which we have no record of then they should come forward and report it."
Simon Kauba say police management condemns the unprofessional and inhumane act by members of the constabulary.
