A former Attorney General of Fiji, Qoriniasi Bale, has died.
The veteran lawyer served as Minister for Justice and attorney general in the administration of the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara in the 1980's as well as the Qarase-led government from 2001 to 2006.
FBC news says Bale was the first i-taukei Solicitor General appointed in 1979 until 1984.
He also served as Legal Adviser to the then Great Council of Chiefs and the Fijian Affairs Board as well as Chairman of the Electoral Commission and the Boundaries Commission in the 1990's.
