A spokesperson for Samoa's Prime Minister says his health is improving after hospital treatment in New Zealand.

The CEO for the Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet says Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi is recovering in a private hospital and has responded well to antibiotic treatment.

Tuila'epa reportedly suffered from a wound infection in his foot after stepping on a nail and was later transferred from Samoa to New Zealand.

Vasoa Epa says the Prime Minister is now feeling fine and is expecting to return to Samoa early next week.
