Fiji invited by Commonwealth to attend Pacific Local Government Forum

12:12 pm on 28 March 2014

Fiji is now being invited by the Commonwealth to engage as an observer in the Pacific Local Government Forum, the biggest gathering of local governments in the Pacific, to be held in May this year.

The Regional Director of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum Pacific, Karibaiti Taoaba, says this follows the Commonwealth's recent decision to downgrade Fiji's suspension from the Commonwealth.

She told Fiji Village online that as an observer, Fiji is able to be present at the conference where they can contribute to discussions and present case studies, however, they will not be able to be part of any decision making process.

The Forum will take place from the 19-23 May in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby.
