Samoa summit to go ahead despite Lolo absence

4:17 pm on 28 March 2014

American Samoa's governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga says the summit meeting between the two Samoas set for May must go ahead as scheduled despite his absence.

During a conference call with is his cabinet, Lolo says he will remain in Honolulu for another three months for medical checks.

But he says there is no reason to cancel the inter-Samoa talks set for the first week of May.

Lolo says it's very important that these discussions with Samoa take place.

A committee is working to finalise specific issues for American Samoa to be included on the agenda.
